Carter had his first visit to the Emergency Room last night!!! We noticed that he wasn't acting like himself, so we decided to take his temperature before we put him in the bath. I took it multiple times and it was 100.3! Just to be sure, we went ahead and called our pediatrician's office and the nurse on call told us that we needed to go down to the Children's Emergency Room at Medical City since it was after hours and their office was not open. She said that it was mainly a precaution because of his age (12 weeks) and that they would most likely just check him out to make sure that nothing serious was wrong. We were in the middle of dinner & a movie (Iron Man 2) at home & Carter had just fallen asleep for the night, so we got our stuff together, put him in his car seat and drove down to the ER.
Here we are in the waiting room. Does this look like someone that has an emergency to you?
The first nurse took a few meausurements from our sweet boy. Here he is on the bed showing off his new toe monitor, which measured his heart rate and oxygen levels. Surprisingly, it did not bother him at all! In fact, he loved the nurse so much that he just kept smiling at her and kicking his feet :) I think she thought he was pretty charming, especially in his My First Easter PJs.

After a brief exam by the Nurse Practitioner, we were thankful (and relieved!) to be given the diagnosis of an upper respiratory illness (URI). Basically, Carter has a COLD! He most likely got it from me :( Both of us are incredibly thankful that nothing more serious is wrong. We are now working on suctioning Carter's nose and cuddling with him in hopes that he feels better soon! Glad this weekend is finally over...
