Date Night at Hibiscus

Tonight was our first night out without Carter since he was born.  Can you believe that?!?!  We were so thankful to Kim & Kirby (Grams & Grandpa) for driving up to Dallas and allowing us a much-needed break.  Since we hadn't been out in a while just the two of us, we decided to splurge a little and go to Hibiscus.  I cannot tell you how much we enjoyed it!

Carter was screaming when we left, but we received a text from Kirby while we were driving to the restaurant that he had calmed down and they were taking a walk around the neighborhood/park.  Tyler & I enjoyed our non-interrupted conversation, some delicious wine & food and just being together.  We enjoyed shared the Frito Misto (artichoke hearts, asparagus, lobster and calamari lightly fried in a tempura batter) as our appetizer and both had the 18 oz. Bone-On Prime Strip Brick steak with roasted garlic butter, along with the duck fat skinny fries (just like it sounds...potato strips fried in duck fat) and sauteed spinach.  It was amazingly wonderful!  We could not stop talking about how fabulous the steaks were while we were eating them.  And we definitely took to go boxes home :)

We did have a little bit of a hard time not letting Carter dominate our conversation, but it was nice to be just the two of us again.  That is how we started and we thank the Lord for giving us each other.  I love having a husband who loves me and who I adore!  My prayer is that we take the time to do this on a regular basis.  It is good for everyone.  Here's to Date Night in America!!!

Happy Father's Day, Daddy!

Today we celebrate Tyler's first Father's Day!!!  Happy Father's Day, Daddy.  We LOVE you so much and are so thankful for you!

Tyler Johnson, it has been so neat to watch you grow into your role as a daddy over the past 19 weeks.  You are amazing with Carter!  He is in love with his Daddy and I know that you two will be great buddies forever.  I love having you as my husband.  Thank you for loving me and for reflecting our Father's love to our little family.

We also praise the Lord for our two wonderful dads, who are also wonderful grandfathers.  Happy Father's Day to Moon Daddy and Grandpa!  Thanks for loving us and being such great supporters and role models.

Has turned into this big angel...

Happy 2nd Birthday, Jenna Mae!

We had a great time celebrating yesterday at the Miller Park splash pad in Temple.  Jenna had quite a few friends come and the kids had a blast running through the water, feeding cheese balls to the ducks, eating cupcakes & snowcones, playing with bubbles and playing with each other.  Below is a summary in pictures of the morning:

Jenna Mae, we are so incredibly thankful for you.  You light up our lives more than you will ever know.  You are loved and treasured because you are YOU!  Uncle T, Mae Mae & Carter love you!  Happy 2nd Birthday!!!

Let the celebrations begin...

Between June 16-19, our family has quite a lot to celebrate each year!  This year it is Mom's 58th birthday, Lee's 28th birthday, Jenna Mae's 2nd birthday and Father's Day!!!  Since Sally & I were the only ones not being "celebrated" this week, we hosted an all-in-one celebration dinner at her house on Friday.  Our menu consisted of Pioneer Woman's olive & artichoke dip, beef, chicken & shrimp kabobs with grilled vegetables, oven roasted potatoes, Pioneer Woman's buttered rosemary rolls, Bakerella's chocolate chip cookie pie with vanilla ice cream and Sweet Smells' vanilla white-on-white cupcakes.  YUM!
