Memorial Day Weekend

We had a fun-filled Memorial Day weekend with the Armstrongs this past weekend!  They came up to Dallas and we enjoyed their company so much, as always!  The weekend included a trip to the splash pad, watching movies, playing, a trip to Starbucks, and a little Mommy & Daddy time, too.  Fun was had by all!

Tyler & I are so thankful to have family members that are also our best friends!  We can't wait to see you again soon, Armstrongs.  We love you!

Rolling, Rolling, Rolling...

Carter rolled over (from his back to his tummy) for the first time today!  All three of us were down on the ground playing in the living room floor when he finally got over his bottom arm.  As crazy as it sounds to me now, I left the room to grab the video camera and was able to catch the last few seconds.  I am so glad that I did not miss it!  Even though this may not seem like a big deal to anyone else, Daddy & I are so pround of you, Carter Lee!  This is a major milestone for you!  You are growing up before our eyes and we could not be more honored to be your parents.  Thank you, Lord, for this precious gift!

This is just after his first roll

 So proud of his accomplishment!!!

Stella Marie McClatchy

Congratulations to our friends, Celeste & Mace McClatchy on the birth of their beautiful baby girl, Stella Marie.  Stella was born on Tuesday evening, May 24, 2011.  We were able to make a trip up to the hospital to meet her for the first time today.

Celeste & I grew up together in Temple and I am really looking forward to watching Carter & Stella grow up together.  Even though they are 16 weeks apart, Celeste & I have many adventures planned for the two of them.  Congratulations, McClatchys!!!

Day of Firsts!

Today was a day of firsts for Carter!  It started off this morning with me dropping him off at the Watermark nursery for childcare during my Building Blocks class.  I was a little anxious with someone other than family watching him for a couple of hours, but I knew that all of the nursery workers had been thoroughly "checked" and were safe & friendly.  Well...when I picked him up, I have never seen a happier little face!  He had enjoyed himself with all of the other babies and sweet nursery workers.  I was so relieved (for me) and proud of him!

Independent baby boy after Mommy picked him up from the nursery :)

In addition to this, when Daddy got home tonight, Carter LAUGHED for the first time!  I tried to capture it on video, but by the time I got it out, he was almost done "performing" for us.  I cannot wait for his laughter to fill this house!!!

Meeting Aunt Sally

Look who came to Texas...
Aunt Sally!!!!!

Today was a very special day because Carter met Aunt Sally for the first time!  She and Lissy were so sweet to drive up to Dallas during her trip to Texas so that we could spend a few hours together.  Carter loved meeting her!

We enjoyed visiting and watching Carter play, talk & smile!  Here is Carter with Lissy and Aunt Sally (a.k.a. Lady)...

Trying to make our serious baby smile...

We enjoyd dinner at Uncle Julio's with Daddy after he got off work this evening, too.

I also thought I would throw in a few pictures that we took at home after dinner.  Here is Carter giving Daddy open mouth "kisses" and taking a bath in the Tummy Tub.

What a blessing to have a visit from Aunt Sally! It was so much fun and we can't wait to see you again soon!

Tanner's Texas A&M Graduation

This morning Tanner officially became a former student of Texas A&M University. We traveled down to Temple last night and then to College Station this morning for his graduation ceremony on campus at Reed Arena at 9:00am. Tyler & I were actually quite proud of ourselves for successfully making it on time (even a few minutes early) with a 14-week old baby who usually doesn't wake up until around 8:00am (+/-).  We tried to quietly move Carter from the crib to his car seat around 7:00am, but he woke up despite our efforts.  He was a happy camper all the way to College Station and didn't even fall back asleep!  After a quick stop at Starbucks to get Mommy a skinny cinnamon dolce latte (can you say sleepy?), we changed & fed him in the car (in Reed Arena's parking lot) and headed inside to meet the rest of the family.

Tyler & I had a great time introducing Carter to Aggieland, driving around town, seeing all of the new building, restaurants & shops that have been built since we graduated in 2005 and also reminiscing over our college days. Even though it was only 6 years ago that we graduated, it seems like it has been forever since we were students here. We grew so much during our four years of college.  It is such a special time in your life, one that is exciting, filled with new people, places & activities, but also can be scary and lonely.  It was a spiritually strong time in our lives.  I believe that the foundation you receive in college stays with you for the rest of your life.  We loved our time in Aggieland and are so proud of Tanner for his accomplishment!
